TEHRAN - The 95th meeting of the dialogue council of the government and the Tehran Province’s private sector was held on Monday, in which various economic issues related to the private sector were discussed.

The meeting was attended by Governor-General of Tehran Province Alireza Fakhari and TCCIMA Head Mahmoud Najafi-Arab, as well as the representatives of the province’s private sector, the portal of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (TCCIMA) reported.

In the gathering, Najafi-Arab called on the government to increase its support for the private sector, saying that the government should act as an anchor for private enterprises.

Fakhari, who is the head of the dialogue council, also emphasized the significant role of the private sector in the country’s economy, saying: “It is necessary to strengthen the relationship between the government and the private sector. Strengthening this relationship can lead to the removal of obstacles, dealing with corruption, and providing better solutions for problems in order to achieve progress in the field of economy and trade.”

“The government cannot carry out its affairs without the private sector, and the private sector will not achieve much success without interaction with the government. Therefore, it is necessary to revise the type of interactions between the government and the private sector,” the official said.

Stating that the problems of economic enterprises are mostly redundant and repetitive, he continued: “Forex contracting, failure to allocate currency on time, failure to issue licenses, customs challenges and lack of access to facilities are among the problems that most economic operators are currently facing in the country.”

Fakhari further underlined the need for forming working groups to solve the issues of the business environment and added: "Continuing the previous procedures will not bring the work to a conclusion. The private sector should see the government as its support and really feel that the government is looking to solve the problems.”
